Trauma-Informed Practice Intensives

Trauma-informed practice invites us to look beyond presenting concerns and symptoms, and stay curious about the experiences, adaptations, relationships and contexts that shape how a person moves through the world.

Trauma-Informed Practice Intensives is a series of short, focused learning spaces for therapists who want to deepen their practice through trauma-informed, somatic, relational and experiential approaches.

Each intensive takes up one aspect of therapeutic work that can feel complex, layered or difficult to navigate in the therapy room. Rather than rushing towards techniques or solutions, we slow down to understand what may be happening, in the client, in the therapeutic relationship, in the body, and in ourselves as therapists. Through a combination of learning, reflection, discussion and experiential practice, we explore ways of responding that are more embodied, nuanced and attuned to context.

Trauma Informed Practice Intensive #01
Numbness & Shutdown

Numbness and shutdown can be complex experiences to sit with in therapy. This intensive offers space to slow down around these experiences and explore them through trauma-informed, somatic and relational perspectives.

We will explore how numbness and shutdown may show up in therapeutic work, what may be happening underneath these experiences, and how we can respond without rushing towards emotional access or change. The intensive will bring together conceptual learning, experiential exploration, case reflection and practical application.

Dates: 18 & 25 September 2026
Time: 2:00–4:30 PM IST
Format: Online

What this space offers

Each intensive may draw on:

  • Trauma-informed frameworks to understand experiences, adaptations and survival responses

  • Somatic and body-based approaches to noticing and working with embodied experience

  • Relational perspectives on what unfolds between client and therapist

  • Movement and creative practices as additional ways of exploring experience

  • Practical therapeutic approaches and language that can be integrated into everyday practice

  • Case reflection and discussion to connect concepts with the realities of therapy work

  • Attention to pacing, choice, capacity and safety, particularly when working with trauma-related experiences

The emphasis is not on finding the “right” intervention, but on developing a wider range of ways to notice, understand, respond and stay with complexity.

Who is this for?

These intensives are intended for therapists and practitioners with an interest in trauma-informed and somatic practice
They may be particularly useful for practitioners who want to move beyond primarily cognitive or symptom-focused approaches and develop a more embodied and relational way of working.

Whether trauma-informed practice is already a part of how you work, or you're beginning to explore what it can look like in your practice, all mental health practitioners are welcome. You don't need to have all the answers (or even a very neat understanding of trauma-informed practice!) to join.

A note on the learning space

  • These are not passive, lecture-style trainings. You can expect a mix of conceptual learning, discussion, case exploration and experiential practices.

  • Participation is always invitational. You are encouraged to stay connected to your own capacity and make choices about how you engage with experiential components.

  • The intention is to create a space where we can learn with curiosity rather than certainty, and think together about the complexity of therapeutic work.

Upcoming intensives and registration details will be announced soon.
